you inadvertently box people into a corner, leaving them with no option but to read, comment and like your write-up. Well, that might work for the first few times. Other times? That mildly stubborn streak in us humans that hates to be told what to do rises, and I guess you know what. I ask again, just how effective is that?
.
Is it that you want to gauge the effectiveness and beauty of your write-up by the amount of likes and comments it gathers? Need I point out to you that something isn't automatically effective, truthful or beautiful just because the vast majority of people think it is? Haven't you seen strong posts with few likes and fewer comments as well as dumb posts with a lot of both? Does the one with more likes become better just because a hundred non-thinking dunderheads think otherwise? Why then would you use this method? Need I also tell you that gauging the progress of your work through these means is the highest degree of insecurity that easily leads one into delusions of grandeur, which in turn leads him into the trap of mistaking honors for achievements?
.
Is it that you want people to 'criticize', or critique your work? How effective is this? How many people do you want to listen to? Two groups of people could attack the same work and it's style YET come out with different and in fact, opposing critiques BUT true and sensible nevertheless. What then do you do in this situation? What if ten lazy people tell you your stories have too much grammar, and just two tell you you should continue with it? Do you listen to the ten because 'ten people can't be wrong' or you just listen to the two much to your detriment? In fact, just how many can you listen to? See, I personally think this is just lame. Wouldn't identifying a strong someone you admire, making a mentor out of him and showing him/her your work achieve far better results than tagging everyone and telling them to deal with your work?
.
Or, do you tag because you sincerely have a message to pass? Oh, well! Why am I asking? Wouldn't almost everyone say they tag because they sincerely have a message to pass across? Lol.

I absolutely agree with you..., most people measure the quality of their posts by how many likes they get and crazily enough, you tag 30 people and maybe get just 15 likes and you begin to wonder,, was my post not interesting enough....,draw backs of social media
ReplyDeletesure Dave, its funny how everything good has its own pack of evil depending on how it is used
Deletei just hate it when someone tag me to their posts, especially someone i'm not closed friends with. but i guess the use of tags is to get more peoples attention to the post and not really to measure its quality by the likes and/or comments you get
ReplyDeleteShola, hope you wont mind if i tag you to my post the next time cos i surely would like to grab your attention
